Vinyl Siding Installation

When you get tired of painting your home's exterior surfaces, you may consider vinyl siding installation as a long-term solution. A project of this scope may look difficult, but modern vinyl siding is as a great deal easier to install than you might think. Can you do it yourself? Certainly, but you may not have the time or the inclination, which is why there are many vinyl siding installation companies willing to do the work for you. What is involved in vinyl siding installation?

Your Experience May Vary
There are as many types of vinyl siding as there are manufacturers and each one requires specific installation methods. Luckily, each manufacturer includes instructions that make installing their product a snap.

Putting It Together
Vinyl siding panels come in 12'-6" lengths (for standard) or longer (seamless vinyl siding), with a nailing flange along the top and a J-shaped interlocking flange at the bottom. The nailing flange has a lip so the bottom of each panel can be hooked into the top of the panel below it. A special tool is sometimes used to unlock the panels once they have been put in place, but for the most part, installation tools are simple.

The Long And The Short Of It
The process isn't complex, but it is time consuming. In most cases, homeowners are too pressed for time to take on a job of this scope. In those situations a professional vinyl siding installation crew can do the work in a very short time and with little interruption of your daily life. Whether or not you should do-it-yourself is simply a matter of time and money.
